Community Futures South Georgian Bay
3–5 year strategic plan
KLB Consulting partnered with Community Futures South Georgian Bay (CFSGB) to lead the development of a comprehensive 3–5 year strategic plan that would guide the organization’s future direction, investment priorities, and economic development activities. From the outset, KLB worked closely with CFSGB to clarify organizational goals and ensure alignment with the broader economic context of South Georgian Bay. This included a thorough SWOT analysis, a review of internal operations and resources, and comparative market research to assess how peer organizations were responding to similar community and economic pressures.
A key strength of the process was KLB’s robust, inclusive engagement model. KLB designed and facilitated a series of consultations—ranging from surveys and interviews to interactive workshops—with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, Board members, municipal partners, and small business clients. These engagements were not only foundational to the plan’s content but also served to build buy-in and strengthen relationships across the ecosystem CFSGB supports. The engagement process was complemented by an environmental scan and best practices review, ensuring the strategy was grounded in current realities and emerging opportunities.
The final deliverable was a clear, actionable strategic plan that outlined CFSGB’s strategic priorities, key initiatives, and implementation roadmap over the next 3 to 5 years. It positions the organization to deepen its impact in the region by supporting entrepreneurs, advancing rural economic development, and responding to evolving community needs. KLB’s approach emphasized practicality, community alignment, and measurable outcomes, ensuring that the plan not only articulates a compelling vision but also provides the tools to operationalize it effectively.
