Explorers’ Edge (RTO 12)

Explorers’ Edge, also known as RTO 12, is one of thirteen Regional Tourism Organizations in Ontario. As the regional Destination Development Organization, Explorers' Edge serves Algonquin Park, the Almaguin Highlands, Loring-Restoule, Muskoka, West Parry Sound district, and South Algonquin in Ontario, Canada.

The organization employs a regenerative approach to tourism, aiming to ensure the sustainability of the industry across the region. This approach focuses on maintaining the health of the tourism sector, supporting the longevity of the organization, and positively impacting the communities involved.

Ongoing & Past Projects

  • KLB Consulting developed the Desktop Assessment Report for Explorers' Edge (RTO 12), focusing on the Region's Indigenous Communities. Collaborating closely with RTO 12 staff, KLB ensured the report aligned with the organization's values and strategic priorities.

    The report provided a comprehensive overview and included recommendations for fostering meaningful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities. It highlighted the importance of consultation, conversation, trust building, and time. This initial assessment served as a foundation for future relationship building, involving active engagement and dialogue with the region's Indigenous communities.
